Overview: Dr. Amparo David, DMD, is committed to staying connected with thought leaders in Dental Sleep Medicine worldwide. As a member of the World Dentofacial Sleep Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting sleep dentists, surgeons, and professionals in advancing dentofacial sleep medicine, she recently traveled to San Francisco to engage with like-minded experts. The society’s mission aligns with Dr. David’s vision—to cultivate a strong network of collaborators who exchange knowledge and insights on the latest advancements in dental sleep medicine and surgery globally. Pictured here, Dr. David joins her Massachusetts-based colleague, Dr. Umakanth Katwa, MD, Director of the Sleep Center at Boston Children’s Hospital, who was a speaker at the conference.

Award: Dr. David becomes a Fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACFP)
Date: October 25 -26 and the Annual AACFP Meeting
Overview: Dr. Amparo David, DMD, recently earned the prestigious title of Fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACFP). This achievement requires extensive experience in treating head, neck, craniofacial pain, and TMJ disorders over the past two years, including the successful treatment of at least 100 patients with these conditions.
Her expertise is reinforced by advanced study and training, which includes either completing at least two academic years in an ADA-accredited dental program or accumulating a minimum of 200 hours of continuing education in the field over the past decade.
Additionally, Dr. David’s fellowship required sponsorship from two Academy Fellows, separate from those who endorsed her general membership application. To finalize the process, she submitted a signed and notarized affidavit along with supporting clinical records.

This event offered a unique opportunity for learning and networking, emphasizing the growing shift toward integrated medical-dental therapies. It reinforced the very principles Dr. David applies in her practice, as collaborative treatments in airway health, sleep disorders, oral-systemic health, nutrition, toxicity, physical therapy, and myofunctional therapy gain increasing recognition in chronic disease management.

Event: Nuvola Orthodontic Congress in Florence, Italy

Overview: As one of the first 20 TMJ and Sleep Therapy Centres—now part of a global network of 72—Dr. Amparo David, DMD, was an early adopter of the Nuvola Aligner, recognizing its unique benefits for her patients. Invited by Nuvola, she visited their factory in Italy and attended a three-day congress to further expand her expertise and enhance the care she provides to her patients.

Dr. Amparo David, DMD, is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), a nonprofit professional society dedicated solely to the practice of dental sleep medicine. As the leading national organization for dentists treating sleep-disordered breathing—including obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snoring—through oral appliance therapy (OAT), the AADSM plays a vital role in advancing patient care.
Dr. David attended the academy’s three-day event to connect with like-minded professionals and further expand her expertise, ensuring she continues to provide the highest quality care possible for patients with sleep disorders!
