What is a root canal?
A root canal is a dental procedure that is done when the nerve of a tooth has either been infected (abscess) or has already lost its blood supply (nerve has died).
How is the procedure done?
The nerve of the tooth is removed. Then the tooth is sterilized and filled with a material to take the place of where the nerve was. As an extra precaution we use ozone before the tooth is sealed to remove all bacteria.
What is ozone?
We use ozone in dentistry in different forms such as gas, water and infused in oils. When having a root canal the ozone gas is typically used and injected into the tooth after the nerve is removed. The ozone kills the bacteria at the root of the tooth.
